Moeen Ali Signed by Janakpur Bolts for Nepal Premier League

Janakpur Bolts has signed former England international all-rounder and two-time World Cup winner Moeen Ali for the third edition of the Nepal Premier League. Ali is the fourth foreign player to join the Bolts this season. Earlier, the Bolts had already signed Harmeet Singh as captain, New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham, and Pakistan batter Iftikhar Ahmed.

A left-handed batter and off-spin bowler, Moeen was a key player in England cricket's successful era. He was a member of the England team that won the ODI World Cup on home soil in 2019. He was the vice-captain of England when they won the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022.

Moeen, who has represented England in all three formats, is among the few English players to have scored over 3,000 runs and taken more than 200 wickets in Test cricket. He has also captained England in T20 Internationals. Moeen, who retired from international cricket in 2024, is continuously active in major franchise leagues worldwide. In the Indian Premier League, he won titles with Chennai Super Kings in 2021 and 2023.

Ali said he is eager to experience the atmosphere of Nepali cricket himself. 'I have seen the immense passion of Nepali cricket fans and their dedication to support their team wherever they go. Now I am eager to experience that wonderful atmosphere myself. I expect this season to be exciting for the Bolts. I am ready to give my 100% for the team on the field,' he said.

Janakpur Bolts' Chief Executive Officer Niroj Khatiwada said Ali's signing is a gift to the cricket lovers of Madhesh. 'Ali's arrival is a testament to the growing global recognition of Nepali cricket and the NPL. This signing is dedicated to our supporters and the people of Madhesh who consider their team dearer than their heart. This is our gift for your love and trust. This time, Janakpur's roar will be even louder,' he said.
